Almost 10 years ago, I was unable to write a single paragraph without breaking into a sweat, but on September 5, 1995, I blacked out during a catastrophic hurricane that tore my island home apart. When I woke the next day, I had a burning desire to write about my ordeal. From that day on, a flood gate of writing ability had been opened and the flood has not subsided since.
Through the years, I have written short stories and poetry, which were published in the local newspaper, but I longed for that one imaginative concept that would become my first novel. That concept finally came to me when I imagined a realm of magic that used to exist within our world, but for some reason, this magical world disappeared centuries ago. On that day, Xunitopia: The Search for Imagination was born.
Like Caiman, an unexpected event helped me discover my true potential. I write simply because I love to write and because I always have something to say. My closest friends always tell me that my life is for publication. I have survived grim dramas, hilarious comedies, unforgettable romances, electrifying adventures, and even a few traumatic horrors. All in all, I am a writer. I livemy life by instinct and that's why I wrote this letter first thing this morning on the way to work. The words just came out from somewhere and they felt right. This is the same feeling I have about my first novel. It just feels right. In life, we should always try to be happy above all else.
